The 1920s are also known as the »Roaring Twenties«. Because the time after the First World War was dominated by the economic upswing. Excessive partying and limitless alcohol consumption characterized the image that was carried outward from this time. But if you look beyond the scenes, you quickly realize that the twenties were primarily defined by one thing: Illusion.
The fictional book publisher »TWEN» publishes a series of books by the author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The author himself lived at that time and was in the middle of the cutting edge between pomp and crash and deals with the themes of that time in his books.
The background graphics are based on optical illusions without being too prominent to pick up on the theme of illusion. At the same time, the graphics address the content of each work. The repeating structure and color scheme of the covers creates a sense of cohesion between the individual books. This gives each book its own character, but still creates a clear book series.
One goal of the project was to combine as many typefaces as possible. For this purpose, the type foundry Playtype provided its fonts within the project.
